On November 29, the Eighth Chinese Speech Contest of Shaanxi Province for overseas students sponsored by Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education and the Education Management Association of Foreign Students was held in Northwestern University. Korean student Song Honggui from XAIU participated in this contest with the speech entitled by “Let’s Put A Smile on Our City” and he made it with great encourage by the judges in the fierce competition.
Other 38 contestants from 14 colleges and universities in Shaanxi Province participated in this contest are from Kazakhstan, Korea, Japan, Congo, UK, Belgium, Pakistan, Viet Nam, US, Italy, Russia, Australia, Bulgaria, Kenya, Turkey, Uganda, Nepal, Kirghizstan, Guyana, Cambodia, Yemen, Turkmenistan. Song Honggui, on behalf of our university, is the only one to participate in this contest and has won honor with great job done.
With the theme of “China’s Dream and I” and “My Life in China”, this contest presents us with the life of those overseas students from different countries in Shaanxi. With his better understanding of Xi’an and his knowledge of Xi’an people’s generosity and frankness, Song Honggui delivered his speech so naturally and neatly to the audience with what he’s seen and heard in China. Meanwhile, he highlighted his speech with a very good command of Shaanxi dialect and won great applause.
